Silver Stars Players Winter Season 2009/2010

The WNBA season is officially over and San Antonio has five players participating in the 2009/2010 European Basketball Season this winter .  Here is the breakdown of where those players will be competing over the next 6 months.

Megan Frazze will be playing her first overseas season with Cankaya. Cankaya is a Turkish team affiliated with a Turkish University that participates in the Turkish Professional Women’s league.  For more information visit  Megans SNN Forum  and  Megan’s Blog.

Sophia Young will be playing in Turkey for the third straight season. Her team Galatasary will be competing in the both the Turkish league and last years Eurocup winners will be making the switch to the FIBA sponsored Euroleague. The Turkish season begins play October 24th against Botas Spor Kulubu. In Euroleage they will be competing in Group A, the most difficult grouping against Russian Powerhouse UMMC and Spanish Powerhouse Ros Casares. Belinda Snell will be playing for Ros Casares of the Spanish league. Snelly’s team started their season this past weekend with Snelly leading her team to victory in the Super Cup. Snelly had 22 points to lead all scorers. Ros will also be in Group A of FIBA’s Euroleague and will begin their season on October 28th against TT Riga of Latvia.  For information on Snelly’s team visit  Snelly’s SSN Forum

Edwidge Lawson Wade will be playing for Russian Powerhouse Spartak Moscow. Eddy has been playing in Russia for the last five seasons. Her previous team CSKA Moscow has lost it’s financing leaving it’s players to find other teams. Eddy joins Spartak in a three month contract. Spartak will be playing in the Russian Super League A as well as Euroleague Group D. For more information on Spartak visit Eddy’s SSN FIBA Forum

Ann Wauters will be playing for another Russian Powerhouse UMMC. This will be Ann’s first season with UMMC having previously played for Russia’s CSKA Moscow. Ann left CSKA this past spring in free agency. Ann’s team will be defending their Russian Super-league A Title and is once again expected to dominate. Megan Frazee heads to Turkey
